Our Story
Two lifelong friends from Italy, arrived in America in the early 1980s, shaped by decades of shared discovery.
Where It Began
Akron, Ohio. Early 1980s. Now, forty-five years later, we sit at opposite ends of the country — Fabio in Virginia, Drusiano in California. Between us: a continent, and a set of convictions we've never quite outgrown. That life deserves attention. Pleasure. Honest materials.
Virginia · Sustenance
After Ohio, Fabio followed work to Virginia — and stayed. Four decades later, he is still here: married, with two grown children who have built their own lives nearby. He and his wife return to Italy as often as life permits, which is to say, often. Each visit confirms what he already knows — that the Italian table is not a style of cooking but a philosophy of time.
He writes about food and the daily materials of a well-lived life. Not recipes as instructions, but recipes as arguments for paying attention.
California · Indulgence & Lifestyle
Drusiano spent years teaching art in North Carolina before settling in California, where his son lives. He is a practicing artist whose eye for composition and material quality shapes everything he writes. His wife was born in Mexico; his daughter lives in the Canary Islands — which means his life is conducted across three continents, with Italy always somewhere on the itinerary.
He writes about beauty as a serious subject — not decoration, but necessity. About the things that earn their place in a life.
Forty years of friendship, food, and discovery have only deepened those convictions. We write about what we eat, what we drink, where we go, and what we find worth owning.

A Shared Philosophy
After forty years in America, what we share most is a refusal to separate the beautiful from the useful. A well-made thing — a bottle of wine, a room, a sweater, a meal — repays attention. It improves with time. It asks to be taken seriously. That is the philosophy behind this journal and behind everything we do.
Fabio and Drusiano, somewhere with good wine and too much to say
Between us we move through Virginia and California, Italy and Mexico, the Canary Islands and wherever the next bottle of wine worth writing about happens to be. The journal is the record of that movement — not as travel writing, but as testimony to the conviction that how you live is the most important thing you will ever decide.
